I am just as influenced by Sigmund Freud as I am by Lucian Freud. My background is in psychology and that certainly has informed my work. I think it's very important to have a certain psychological tension and visual dynamism in my paintings. Many of my ideas come from dreams.
I like to paint because it's a magic place with no rules. I worship the randomness of chance and the entropy of each successive mark.
